Passage, the offline sailing logbook, is designed to run entirely on your device. This policy explains how your data is handled — in short: we collect nothing. Passage is developed by Shoumeng Jiaye.
Contents
1. Information we collect
1. Your logbook data (voyages, track points, journal entries, messages in a bottle, marks, media and settings) is stored only on your device and never uploaded to any server. 2. Passage has no account system; we do not collect email addresses, phone numbers or other identity information.
2. How information is used
Data is used only to render the app's features on your device. We do not profile, analyze or sell any user data.
3. Storage and security
All data is kept in a local database on your device. Backups and GPX exports are files you create and control; uninstalling the app deletes everything — no copies exist on any server.
4. Third-party services
1. Weather and sea-state data is fetched from Open-Meteo when you use the sea-state card; requests contain coordinates only, no identity. 2. Map tiles are downloaded from public map servers; requests contain tile coordinates only. 3. Crash diagnostics (Sentry) are collected only in release builds on real devices, contain stack traces and error messages, and are never associated with your logbook content or identity.
5. Permissions
Location is used only to record your voyage track while a leg is active, entirely on your device. Notification permission is used only for the reminders you configure in the app, and can be turned off any time in system settings.
6. Data you choose to share and deleting your data
Backups (zip), GPX files, shared images and exported Markdown are generated on your device and leave it only when you actively send them. Delete records in the app, or uninstall the app to delete everything — no copies exist on any server.
