HanZi Terms of Use

By using the HanZi application (the "App"), you agree to this User Agreement. If you do not agree to any of these terms, please do not use the App.

1. Service Description
HanZi is a mobile application for learning Chinese characters: structured lessons, stroke-by-stroke tracing, quizzes, spaced-repetition review and a mistake notebook. All learning content and your progress data are stored on your device and work offline. Optional Premium features are unlocked through in-app purchases.
2. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for how you use the App and for keeping your own device and app-store account secure. You use the App at your own risk.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the App to: 1. Extract, copy, resell or redistribute the learning content, stroke data or audio in any form; 2. Reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, or interfere with its licensing and purchase verification; 3. Use the App for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
4. Fees
The App can be downloaded and used for free; a portion of the courses is available without payment. HanZi Premium — which unlocks the full course library — is offered as a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase, billed through the App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed in your store account. Refunds are handled according to the respective store's policies.
5. Intellectual Property
The intellectual property rights of the App's software code, interface design, icons, course content, stroke data and audio belong to SMJY Tech and are protected by copyright laws. Your own learning progress and notes remain yours.
6. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services, including the App Store and Google Play for purchases and distribution. Your use of those services is also subject to the respective providers' terms. See the Privacy Policy for details on data processing.
7. Disclaimer
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the learning content is free of errors, that the App will run uninterrupted or error-free on every device, or that use of the App will lead to any particular learning outcome.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SMJY Tech shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.
9. Changes to This Agreement
We may update this Agreement from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. Material changes will be announced within the App or on this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Agreement.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from this Agreement shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation; failing that, it shall be submitted to a competent court where the operator is located.
