Code Island — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SMJY Tech ("we", "us") handles information in the Code Island mobile application ("the App"). Short version: the App works offline, has no account, no ads and no purchases; all of your child's progress stays on your device; and the only data we receive is anonymous, aggregated usage statistics that you can switch off at any time.

Your child's progress never leaves the device

Code Island does not require an account and does not ask you for personal data. Your child's progress, settings and self-designed levels are stored locally on your device and never leave it. We do not operate a server for user content, so we could not read your child's data even if we wanted to.

1. Who is responsible

SMJY Tech is the developer of the App and the contact point for anything related to this policy. If you have any question about your child's privacy or this policy, write to us at tzhh0617@gmail.com.

2. Information we handle

Local data (stored only on your device). The App stores learning progress (unlocked levels, stars, attempt counts and best step counts), in-app settings (sound, motion, language, a child profile name) and up to three self-designed island drafts in the device's local storage. This data is never sent to us or to any server. Anonymous usage statistics. To understand which features are useful and to improve the App, we use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous, aggregated information — for example, how often a level is opened or a program is run — together with a pseudonymous app-instance identifier that Firebase assigns to the installation. This information is statistical only: it is not linked to your child's identity, does not include personal identifiers, and never includes the content of what your child does in the App. The App is built with the no-ad-ID variant of Firebase and never touches advertising identifiers. No other data. The App shows no advertising, contains no in-app purchases and collects nothing else.

3. How and why we use information

We use the anonymous, aggregated statistics described above for a single purpose: to measure how the App is used so we can improve it (legitimate interest). We do not use this information to build a profile of you or your child, and we do not sell or share it with advertisers.

4. Your controls: switch statistics off, view or erase local data

You stay in control. You can turn the anonymous statistics off at any time in the App (Parent Gate → Settings → "Anonymous usage statistics"); when switched off, collection and reporting stop completely. The local data can be viewed in the family panel (Parent Gate → Learning Profile) and erased at any time with "Reset progress"; uninstalling the App also deletes all local data completely.

5. Children's privacy

Code Island is designed for young children (recommended for ages 7 and up), which is exactly why its data footprint is minimal: no account, no personal information, and statistics that are anonymous and aggregated — never containing your child's name or the content of their play. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, child or adult. If you believe any personal information has reached us, contact us at tzhh0617@gmail.com so we can delete it.

6. Third parties and international transfers

Google Analytics for Firebase is provided by Google, which may process the anonymous statistics in the United States or other countries. Google acts as an independent controller for this processing and offers safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers out of the European Economic Area. We do not share information with any other third party.

7. How long we keep information

Local data stays on your device until you reset it in the family panel or uninstall the App, which deletes it completely. Anonymous, aggregated analytics is retained by Firebase/Google according to their own retention policies.

8. Security

We protect information commensurate with its sensitivity. Because your child's data lives on your device and what reaches us is anonymous and aggregated, the risks are inherently limited. No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the "Effective date" above will reflect the latest version. For any question or request regarding this policy or your data, write to us at tzhh0617@gmail.com.
