ScanPod — Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SMJY Tech ("we", "us") handles information in the ScanPod mobile application ("the App"). The App is built to keep your scanned documents on your device, and this page describes the few exceptions in plain language.

Your documents never leave your device

ScanPod captures, enhances, recognizes and converts documents entirely on your device. Scanned pages, generated PDFs, recognized text and your document library are stored only in the App's private storage on your device. There is no account, no sign-up and no server that could receive your documents. Camera and local-network access are used only when you ask for it: the camera to scan, and the optional Wi-Fi transfer (which you start yourself and which only runs while its screen stays open) to let a browser on the same network download files you choose to share.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller responsible for your information in the App is SMJY Tech. If you have any question about this Privacy Policy or your data, you can contact us at tzhh0617@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Scanned documents. Your scans, generated PDF/Word/Excel files, recognized text and annotations are written to the App's private storage on your device. We never receive copies and cannot access them. Local data (stored only on your device). The App stores your settings (appearance, language, passcode digest for locked documents) and your premium entitlement state in the device's local storage. This data is never sent to us. Crash reports. When the App crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends an anonymous crash report to Sentry — typically the error's stack trace, device model, OS version, app version and the time of the error. Crash reports contain no document content and are not linked to your identity. Purchases. The optional Pro subscription or lifetime purchase is processed entirely by the store you installed the App from — Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, store or process your payment card details or your store account details.

3. Permissions and network access

Camera — required to scan documents; declined, you can still import images from your gallery. Local network — used only by the optional Wi-Fi transfer screen, and only while that screen stays open. Photos / Storage — used to import existing images or PDFs into your library. The App uses network access for two purposes only: sending the anonymous crash reports described above, and displaying legal pages like this one. Your documents are never uploaded anywhere.

4. Third-party services

Crash reporting: Sentry (sentry.io). You can read how Sentry handles this data in Sentry's privacy policy (sentry.io/privacy). Purchases use your store's payment system. The App contains no advertising SDKs.

5. Data retention

Your documents and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Crash reports are stored by Sentry in anonymous form under Sentry's retention policies and are not linked to your identity.

6. Your rights and choices

Because your documents and settings never leave your device, you control them directly: deleting a document in the App removes it and its files from the device, and uninstalling the App removes everything. For the anonymous crash reports, you can contact us at tzhh0617@gmail.com with any question.

7. How to request deletion of your data

Your documents, settings and entitlement state are stored only on your device — deleting documents in the App or uninstalling the App removes them completely and immediately. The only data kept outside your device is the anonymous data described in section 2 (anonymous crash reports sent to Sentry; no name, no email, no document content). To request deletion of this data, email tzhh0617@gmail.com from any address with the subject "ScanPod data deletion request". We will delete the crash data associated with your installation within 30 days and confirm by reply. This request does not require an account — none exists.

8. Children's privacy

The App does not ask anyone for personal data, including children under 13, and does not contain content directed at children.

9. Changes to this policy

If future versions of the App change how information is handled in a material way, we will update this page and the "Effective date" above before the change reaches the app stores.
