Ride Trace — Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SMJY Tech ("we", "us") handles information in the Ride Trace mobile application ("the App"). The App is built to keep your rides on your device, and this page describes the few exceptions in plain language.
Your rides never leave your device
Ride Trace records your rides — route, speed, pace, distance and sensor data — and stores them entirely on your device. There is no account, no sign-up and no server that could receive your ride history. We do not operate any service that could read your rides, and we never sell data.
Contents
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller responsible for your information in the App is SMJY Tech. If you have any question about this Privacy Policy or your data, you can contact us at tzhh0617@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Ride data (stored only on your device). Your routes, ride statistics, bikes, goals, achievements and settings are kept in a local database on your device. This data is never sent to us. Location. While you record a ride, the App uses your device's location (foreground only) to draw the route and compute distance and speed. Location is never accessed in the background and never leaves your device — the route is stored locally. The only data that leaves your device: anonymous crash reports (stack traces, device model, OS and app version, crash time) sent to Sentry when the App crashes. They contain no personal content and are never linked to your identity. Purchases. The optional Ride Trace Pro unlock (subscriptions or a one-time purchase) is processed entirely by the store you installed the App from — Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, store or process your payment card details or your store account details.
3. Permissions and network access
Location — used only while a ride is being recorded, to draw the route and compute distance and speed; you can decline and still explore the App with the built-in simulator. Bluetooth — optional; used only to connect heart-rate straps, cadence sensors and wearables that you explicitly pair. The App uses network access only to send the crash reports described above and to display legal pages like this one. Your rides are never uploaded anywhere.
4. Third-party services
Crash reporting: Sentry (sentry.io) — anonymous crash reports only; no analytics or advertising SDKs. You can read how Sentry handles this data in Sentry's privacy documentation (sentry.io/privacy). Purchases use your store's payment system. The App contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics profiling.
5. Data retention
Your rides and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Crash reports are stored by Sentry in pseudonymous form under Sentry's retention policies and are not linked to your identity.
6. Your rights and choices
Because your rides never leave your device, you control them directly: deleting a ride in the App, resetting the App in system settings, or uninstalling removes everything. The App also offers free CSV export and JSON backup/restore, so you can take your data with you at any time. For the crash reports, you can contact us at tzhh0617@gmail.com with any question.
7. How to request deletion of your data
Your rides and settings are stored only on your device — deleting them in the App, resetting the App in system settings, or uninstalling removes them completely and immediately. The only data kept outside your device is the crash reports described in section 2 (Sentry; no name, no email, no ride content). To request deletion of this data, email tzhh0617@gmail.com with the subject "Ride Trace data deletion request". We will delete the crash data associated with your installation within 30 days and confirm by reply. This request does not require an account — none exists.
8. Children
The App is a general-audience cycling tool and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves; material changes are noted in the release notes. Questions: tzhh0617@gmail.com.
